The viral Tik Tok Tomato Feta Pasta recipe
I’m sure you’ve heard about the Tomato Feta Recipe that is going viral on all the social media platforms. If you haven’t, you may have noticed while placing your online grocery order or walking through the cheese and fresh herb aisles at the grocery store, that some ingredients like feta and basil are hard to come by. It’s because of this recipe!
I was lucky enough to secure a container of feta in brine. I wasn’t so lucky with finding fresh basil so I opted for dried basil instead. We do grow basil in our garden in the summer so I will definitely try this recipe again when I have ample fresh basil on hand.
Step-by-step process for making Tomato Feta Pasta recipe
Prep the Ingredients:

- 2 pints cherry tomatoes, washed
- 1 cup asparagus, chopped (I used frozen because that is what I had on hand. I buy it in bulk and trim and freeze what I’m not using right away)
- 1/2 cup avocado or olive oil
- 2-4 garlic cloves, minced (I buy garlic already chopped in a jar)
- 1/2 tsp each salt and pepper
- 1 tsp dried basil (or 1/4 cup chopped fresh)
- 400 g feta block
- 8 oz pasta of choice (enough for 6 servings)
Steps:
- Start by preheating the oven to 400°F.
- Place the cherry tomatoes and asparagus in an oven-safe baking dish. Pour the avocado (or olive) oil on top, add the garlic and season with salt and pepper.
- If using dried basil add and toss until well combined.
- Cut the feta block in half and place in the middle of the baking dish surrounded by the cherry tomatoes and asparagus. Flip a couple times to coat it with the oil and seasoning.
- Bake for 35 minutes, until the cherry tomatoes burst, and the feta cheese melts.
- Broil for 5 additional minutes to brown the feta cheese slightly.

- While the tomatoes, asparagus and feta are baking, cook the pasta in a pot of boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. (Tip: if you have a pasta spoon, the circle cutout is for measuring 1 serving of spaghetti type pasta. I used 6 servings.)

- Remove the tomatoes, asparagus and feta from oven. Break apart the feta and lightly mix in with tomatoes and asparagus.
- Add the cooked pasta.
- If you are using fresh basil, add it now and stir in.

Bonus Tip: How to cater to different tastes without making a separate meal

My husband, daughter, and I for the most part aren’t picky eaters, but we have slightly different tastes. My husband loves his food saucy, me not as much (my sauce philosophy is a little goes a long way) and my daughter hasn’t acquired a taste for some veggies (like asparagus, but got to give it to her – she willingly tries it every time we make it). So with this meal, more sauce was scooped on my husband’s plate, mine had the right amount of sauce (:P) and none of the asparagus made it onto my daughter’s plate. Everyone was happy!
